The Big Night Out - Happy Birthday to Me

While out to dinner with my beloved taxi drivers, I randomly ran into a friend from the boat and we had a celebratory birthday drink. Great times I tell you...

Later that night I was adopted by an Indian family and was henna-ed by the one of the daughters. It seemed the whole town was interested in me. You wouldn't believe it but all that work took only about five minutes.

Conflicted Worlds

I found it ironic that our ship, so named the Peace Boat, docked next to an Indian military ship. I wish I was able to get off the boat and get a shot of the two parked next to each other but this will have to do.

A Catholic Church in India

This is a photo of the Santa Cruz Basilica. Initially built in 1505, I think it is the only Catholic church in Cochin, though I could be wrong.

Livestock

Everywhere I went in India, there seemed to be livestock laying around in the middle of the road, walking down the street, or otherwise coexisting with the local people.

The People of India

The above picture is one of my taxi driver, Najeeb, and his brother on the left, Abu. Crazy dudes. Half the time I wasn't sure if I would make it out alive, and the other half I was having the time of my life.

I found this cute little girl and her granfather near Santa Cruz Basilica, the local Catholic Church.

I love this picture. It really captures the feeling of India, which is a clash of new and old, cell phone and a chicken crossing the road.
