The Camel Caravan

I now have way too many pictures of camels, but I suppose there are worse things in life.

This is a picture of one of my guides. This poor kid got the exciting job of dragging my camel through the desert.

Did you ever see that commercial where people looked like their cars? Well, I felt like this guy and his camel were WAY to much alike.

The Kiddies

Okay, so let me start by saying, these kids practically begged me to take their pictures. In no way was I following them around or anything like that. That said, aren't they cute?

Ruins

Eritrea is the first place I have ever been where you can really feel the effects of war. Above is the palace, bombed out and vacated. Below is the dock that leeds to the palace, and a lion head lying in ruins.

Eritrean Food

This was the dinner served after our camel tour. It was so delicious, hearty and soulful, if food can have a soul that is. This local dish, called Njara, is made up of a sour crepe-like bread, filled with curry-esq goodies. Finger lickin' good!
